A main activity of GOMA is to address opportunities for harmonization and equivalence in East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. With that in mind, we are both educating and consulting government and private sector stakeholders in the region through questionnaires and a series of workshops. The first workshop was held in Nonthaburi, Thailand in early February. Now we are pleased to announce that the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) has agreed to organize our second workshop in Shanghai from 27th to 29th May. The workshop will be held at BioFach-China, and workshop participants will also be included in some of the special events of BioFach. An information session on GOMA will be included in the BioFach Conference scheduled on 27th May after the opening ceremony.
May is the opening month of the much-publicized World Expo in Shanghai. Workshop participants will offered an optional tour to an organic farm and the World Expo on Sunday, 30th May. We are soliciting organic traders and retailers in Southeast, East and South Asia to attend this workshop and contribute to the discussions about easing trade restrictions and developing a regional organic market. Asian retailers and traders, please contact me if you are interested!
